Spotlight in History

Today’s spotlight is dedicated to professional tennis player and golfer, Althea Gibson. Ms. Gibson made history by being the first Black woman to play at Wimbledon, to win both the French and US Opens, and to play in the Women’s Pro Golf Tour in 1959. Over the course of two decades, she accumulated many titles (and recognition) before finally being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1971!
