Transformative Justice Speaker Series

This past Thursday, the BGU Eboard attended the incredibly powerful Transformative Justice Speaker Series that took place at the MSU Wharton Center. It was here, in the Great Cobb Hall, that we heard from three amazingly passionate women of color about their collective projects, stories, and beautifully articulated visions. The speaker lineup included several outspoken ladies, including The Firecracker Foundation Founder and Director, Tashmica Torok, and profound civil rights activist and creator of the #MeToo movement, Tarana Burke! These speakers, as well as the host, mixed humor and love with passion and zeal in order to create messages that made the atmosphere feel like a gathering with familiar friends rather than an auditorium filled with hundreds of audience members. We came from this event filled with feelings of  togetherness, encouragement, hope for this upcoming school year!
